About the course
This qualification, in combination with our other counselling qualification courses, meets the basic training contact hours requirement for recognition as a qualified counsellor.
Modules covered include:
Professional organisation issues in counselling
Counselling in a diverse society
Counselling theory
Advanced counselling skills
Self-awareness for counsellors
Research methodologies in counselling
Counselling placement
Entry requirements
Learners should have completed a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills.
It is a requirement of this course that:
Students have a supervised counselling placement for a minimum of 100 hours over the duration of the course. Any supervision fees are the responsibility of the student
Students take out and maintain appropriate liability insurance when undertaking placements
Learners undertake personal therapy/counselling over the duration of the course, ideally on a weekly basis and a minimum of 60 hours in total.
Assessment
You will build a portfolio during the course. The course assessments include written questions and practical elements. They are assessed through a range of methods including observation, a reflective log or journal and placement assessment.

Please bring paper and pen.
Delivery
We aim to deliver this course in a face to face classroom setting. Our arrangements for course delivery will be regularly reviewed in line with the relevant government guidance. If situations change, your course may require an element of blended learning. This means some sessions may be virtual classrooms using technology such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom. So, you will therefore need access to a PC, laptop, or other suitable device. These sessions may be full classes, or provide work set online to undertake during the session.

Induction
Students must attend a College induction prior to the course start date.
Fees
Advanced Learner Loans are available for students aged 19+. These are repayable when you finish your course and earn more than £25,000 per annum.
