News Bursary Success 28.11.2019
This week Collyer’s presented bursaries to 9 new students, in recognition of their outstanding results at school. Bursaries were awarded to a student from each of the key local partner schools (Forest, Millais, Tanbridge, Oathall and Warden Park) and to students achieving top grades from north, south, east and west of Horsham.
Freya Andrews, Patrick Carlin, Kira Freeman, Manami Imada, Freddie King, Naomi Newbery, Georgie Tingley, Izzy Russell and Charlene Tu-Weale were each presented with a cheque by Collyer’s Principal, Sally Bromley.
Sally Bromley explained: “It is important that Collyer’s recognise the outstanding work of our excellent partner schools, by rewarding some of our new students for their academic success in year 11.
“We attract students from right across the region, so it is fitting that we should also reward those coming to us from farther afield. I’m sure the money will be put to good use to help support their education or extra-curricular activities while at Collyer’s.”
Ex-Tanbridge House pupil Patrick Carlin said: “Thank you to Collyer’s for this bursary, I really appreciate being rewarded for the hard work I put into GCSEs earlier this year. I will put the money towards equipment or trips as part of my A Level studies.”
Naomi Newbery said: “I would like to thank my whole family for all the support and encouragement they gave me during my GCSEs. They helped me every step of the way and I couldn’t have done it without them!”
Izzy Russell is enjoying her first term at Collyer’s: “Thank you Collyer’s for this recognition. I am loving my subjects at A-Level so far and I feel Collyer’s will help me to continue to push myself. I worked very hard for my GCSEs with the help of great teachers at my secondary school, Warden Park, and the support of my family and friends.”
Georgie Tingley, who previously attended Oathall Community College was delighted: “A massive thank you to Collyer’s for providing this opportunity for all of us. My friends and family were a huge help throughout all of my exams and I continue appreciate their support greatly.”
Charlene Tu-Weale said: “I’d like to thank my friends, my mum and of course Hazelwick School, without them I don’t think I would’ve had a clue where to start. Speaking of starts, thank you as well to Collyers for making everyone’s entry into college life as smooth as possible.”
Sally Bromley told the students: “You’ve all made a great start to life at Collyer’s and I’m confident that your individual success stories can continue into advanced level and beyond!
