Collyer’s welcomed Assurity Consulting’s Ian Robinson (Business Support & HR Manager) to help with the college’s highly rated Employability course.
Lucy Hargreaves, Employability Programme Co-ordinator, explained: “It was great to welcome Ian back here to support our Employability course, which is now in its fourth year. We have designed the programme to help students into the world of work with the help of taught sessions, workshops, trips and a host of guest speakers we have planned throughout the year.
The aim of the busy and insightful sessions (some of which have been creatively delivered on-line) from Assurity Consulting is to help students, who are currently studying the Employability course in their second year at the college, gain an understanding of how to match and ‘sell’ their skills, knowledge and experience in a covering letter or job application form.
During the sessions the students were able to ask Ian questions about job applications, interviews and practical tools and techniques to use when looking for employment.
The group were also given advice and guidance focussing on CVs, planning for a job interview, and how to predict the key questions they are likely to be asked.
Deputy Principal Steve Martell, who teaches the course at the Ofsted Outstanding Sixth form college, facilitated a Q&A with Ian Robinson: “Ian and all at Assurity Consulting genuinely care about helping the next generation and are massively supportive of the employability programme here at Collyer’s.
“In addition, Assurity Consulting kindly sponsor our Basketball Academy, which is hugely appreciated by the Collyer’s sporting community”
Lucy Hargreaves was delighted: “The level of engagement, confidence and enthusiasm shown by our students was really impressive.
“Massive thanks to Assurity Consulting’s Ian Robinson. He is absolutely amazing!”
Steve added: “Ian Robinson is genuinely one of the good guys and the students certainly valued his professional advice and guidance.”
