News Founder’s Day Celebrated 15.06.2022
Collyer’s celebrated Founder’s Day, an annual service to remember Mercer Richard Collyer, who founded the Horsham educational institution in 1532. The event was hosted by Revd Lisa Barnett, Team Rector, with a reading from Student Governor Hari Gunturu and addresses from Principal Dan Lodge and Dr David Skipp, Chair of the Governing Body, and Chair of Horsham District Council.
On the 100th anniversary of the Old Collyerians’ Association (OCA) Professor Roger Dalrymple (President of the OCA) also addressed the congregation and led the ‘Collyer’s School Song’.
Music for the event was performed by the Collyer’s Sinfonia, who comprise Feli Beissel, Archie Freeman, Roseanna Graves, Yerin Kim, Anneli Matthews, Andy Ng and Jennifer Skipp (violins), Georgia Smith and Joe Steel (violas), Leanne Morley (cello), Gemma Cowieson (piano) and Luca Imperiale and Miranda Wilson (recorders).
Principal Dan Lodge said: “It was wonderful to celebrate Founder’s Day and the 100th anniversary of the Old Collyerians’ Association at St Mary’s Church, which is actually very close to our original school site.
“Huge thanks to Revd Lisa Barnett, Dr David Skipp, Professor Roger Dalrymple, Hari Gunturu and the Collyer’s Sinfonia for making this year’s event such a special occasion.”
