News Students Investigate Law Careers 18.06.2022
Collyer’s hosted Hannah Coe from the University of Law. Hannah delivered an enrichment event called “Law in Action”, focussing on the criminal justice system and the qualifications needed to pursue careers in this field. Content included a detailed insight into pathways to becoming a solicitor (including new rules from 2022) or barrister.
Janene Weymouth, Collyer’s Head of Law, said: “The students really enjoyed the ‘Law in Action’ session as many are considering working within the criminal justice system. Huge thanks to Hannah for taking time out to deliver such an informative and engaging session.”
In addition, the group explored careers in the police force at different levels, and Hannah explained the new policing degree and alternative study options. Criminology was also investigated, with a focus on police, probation service, social and youth work.
Rob Hussey, Collyer’s Vice Principal (Curriculum) said: “It was great to welcome Hannah back to the college for another fascinating session and the students thoroughly enjoyed cross-examining her about opportunities in law! We are extremely grateful to her and Janene for making this event possible.”
