Welcome from Richard Collyer Union
The Richard Collyer’s Union (RCU) is our very own student-run union. Our purpose as the RCU is to ensure the students thrive and to make sure Collyers is the greatest place it can be. Students know Collyers the best as they experience it first-hand. Therefore you (as a student) will have a clear idea of how it can be improved. This is why we make our changes by listening to you through the tutor representatives, surveys, suggestion boxes and just talking to you.
The RCU also plan the events and charity fundraisers at Collyers. Some examples of the changes we have made and the events we have organised so far include: wellbeing week, therapy dogs, bake sales, raffles and (most recently) our second years’ leavers event. This included inflatable games, mini golf, live music from students and the college choir, a photo booth, food trucks and an ice cream van.
Some things we plan to do in the near future include: new enrichment events such as college drama productions and green week which will include a clothes swap, a milk float and talks from professors and environmental specialists on topics like sustainability in fashion. We also plan to update the RCU social media which we will use to advertise events and keep students updated with changes in the college.
The RCU can help you along your journey here at Collyers and is something you can become a part of. We’d love you to get involved. Come and see us at the Freshers Fair or email RCU@collyers.ac.uk to find out more.
The RCU Co Presidents for 2024-25 are Tom Haydon and Risha Panda
